Wouldn't it be cool if someone used this style of rendering a character for animation instead of the weird 'Rodger Rabbit' or conventional shadows and highlights? I would love to see this move.
I'm a bit neutral about this artist's character work, but I think the backgrounds are fabulous. I especially like the various trees. I would imagine that many backgrounds were influenced by Sleeping Beauty, which was in theaters a couple of years before this book. Thanks for the post.

the trees are cool
I've never felt my suspension of disbelief was so blatantly violated. Hokey doing honest work for food? completely out of character.
